At low speeds, a failing alternator may not produce enough voltage to keep the vehicle's electronics running. This causes high-draw systems like the Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) to shut down, making the wheel stiff, and causes the dashboard to go dark and warning lights to illuminate.

WrenchConnect diagnosis signals
A poor connection at the battery or a main ground wire can cause intermittent voltage drops. This can trigger multiple warning lights, shut down the power steering, and cause the O2 sensor heater codes you are seeing, even with new sensors.
Damaged wiring can cause intermittent shorts or open circuits, which could explain the persistent O2 sensor codes and the sudden loss of communication to the dashboard and steering modules.
Your vehicle uses an electric power steering system. If the EPAS motor or module is failing or drawing too much current during a turn, it can cause a severe voltage drop, triggering the wrench light, stiff steering, and causing the dash to reset.
If the drive belt is slipping at low engine speeds, the alternator will stop spinning fast enough to charge the battery. This leads to a sudden drop in electrical power, triggering the battery light and disabling the electric steering.
